Luxor contains one of Egypt's richest deposits of ancient artifacts. The karnak temple complex is a stunning example of this, covering acres of land built and rebuilt by different pharaohs. Karnak was one of ancient Egypt's most popular place of warship.
Also, the valley of the kings is a short bus ride away from Luxor. There you can explore the amazing subterranean tombs of long since deceased pharaohs. Although the tombs don't contain their precious treasures, witnessing first hand the amazing engineering skills of the ancient Egyptians is awe inspiring. |
